The original 1in8b does not currently have an app in the App Store or Google Play, according to its developer. Play at 1in8b.life in your phone’s browser, then add the website to your Home Screen if you want an icon you can open next time.
A Home Screen icon gives you a convenient way back to the game. The developer’s official explanation identifies the original address and explains that its Home Screen option lets the site work like an app. This guide covers that original game.
Sources checked October 28, 2026. We opened the original English homepage, v0.8.63 beta, checked its Add to Home Screen help, and inspected the layout at phone width in a desktop browser. The iPhone and Android installation steps below follow Apple’s and Google’s documentation; installation and save continuity were not tested on physical phones.
Start with the original website
Open Safari on iPhone or Chrome on Android, and visit the original English game. Check that the address is 1in8b.life before adding an icon.
On the first screen, use Continue for a life already saved in that browser. For a new life, choose your starting settings and press Be born. Our beginner’s guide explains the birth settings, focus choices and time controls.
You can also scroll to Add to Home Screen near the bottom of the game’s first screen for its built-in help.
Add 1in8b to your iPhone Home Screen
Use Safari for the following route, based on Apple’s current iPhone instructions:
- Load 1in8b.life/en/ in Safari.
- Open Safari’s Share menu. With some toolbar layouts, open Page Menu first to find Share.
- Choose Add to Home Screen. Apple says you can find a missing action through Edit Actions in that menu.
- Enable Open as Web App if that option appears, then finish with Add.
Open the new icon to check the result. The web-app option is designed to open the website in an app-style window. Your Safari layout and iOS version can change where these controls appear.
Add it on Android with Chrome
Open the same official address in Chrome. Google currently documents two routes:
| What Chrome offers | What to choose |
|---|---|
| An installable web app | More (⋮) → Install and create shortcut → Install, then complete the prompts. |
| A website shortcut | More (⋮) → Install and create shortcut → Create shortcut, choose a name and press Add. |
The first route comes from Google’s web-app instructions; the second follows its website-shortcut instructions.
Use the route available on your device. Google notes that a shortcut bearing the Chrome logo opens in Chrome. Menu labels and install availability can vary, so follow the current browser prompts rather than expecting every phone to show an identical panel.
You do not need an APK download to begin playing the original game: the browser address above is enough.
Check your life before switching how you open the game
Adding an icon is not a backup of your life. The original game’s first screen says its ordinary records stay in the browser, and that another app, phone or private window will not automatically contain them. Clearing the browser’s data removes that local copy.
After adding an icon:
- Open it and look for Continue.
- Check that the character’s name and age match the life you meant to keep.
- If that life is missing, return to the browser where it still appears. Keep that copy intact while you use Move my lives if a transfer is needed.
Our save and browser-transfer guide walks through making a moving code, importing it in another browser and checking the transferred life after a refresh. We tested that transfer separately. It does not establish that every phone automatically shares a save between its browser and a Home Screen web app.
If you already have a life you care about, make this check before starting another one or clearing any site data.
Questions before you add an icon
Is the Home Screen version a different game?
The instructions here add a way to open 1in8b.life. Check the address when following another link or changing browsers. A similar name alone does not identify the original game.
Do I need to pay to play on a phone?
The developer describes a complete life and its ending as free, with optional paid keepsake extras. Adding a website icon is separate from those extras; see the official explanation for the current offering.
Can I play offline?
We have not verified a complete offline life. Set up the website with an internet connection and check the features you intend to use before relying on it without one. A Home Screen icon by itself does not establish that every feature is available offline.
Once the game opens the way you prefer, continue with our first-life walkthrough. If you later move to a new phone, return to the transfer checklist before leaving the old browser behind.
